Qualcomm to launch low-cost video game console in India (games would be available for download from the Internet as well as in retail stores)

Qualcomm will introduce its low-cost video game console, Zeebo, in India by 2010. The company launched Zeebo, designed for consumers in developing countries, in Brazil at $299 (about Rs1, 150). The games would be available for download from the Internet as well as in retail stores. The company plans to also launch its personal television, FLO TV, in India. FLO TV is a touch screen-based model, which uses Qualcomm's new terrestrial digital TV service. Source: Business Standard

Recording companies like T-Series, Scream and Times Music have decided to sell music on memory cards and pen drives used in mobile handsets and computers. With this they hope that to target Indian youth that have bipods and smart phones. The music industry saw its earnings from sale of compact discs and cassettes decline 14 percent to an estimated Rs. 6.3 billion in 2008.
