57. PC Sales Up 28% As People Lap Up More Notebooks – May 02
PC sales rise by 28%
India's personal computer sales – desktops and notebooks – witnessed a 28% year-on-year (y-o-y) growth to touch 1.39 million units in October-December 2006. According to the quarterly industry performance review (for Q3 FY’07) by hardware association MAIT, the notebook sales touched 1,95,000 units, recording 56% growth over Q3 in 2005-‘06, on the back of price cuts and the additional benefit of mobility and space management.

IBM India has started its operations in Goa, as a part of its plan to enter 14 new Indian cities, to work closely with small and medium businesses (SMBs) throughout the country. “There is an untapped market here to help these businesses gain a competitive edge and catch up with their larger counterparts", said Ramesh Narasimhan, Director – Global SMB, IBM India.

Ltd, Saitek, the German PC peripheral and gaming hardware major, will launch
its audio products, PC input devices and PC gaming controllers in the Indian
market.
66. Fujitsu, Sun Micro Unveil Co-Developed Servers – April 19
Fujitsu Ltd and Sun Microsystems Inc
introduced a new line-up of co-developed servers that will be jointly
manufactured by both the companies in the US, Japan and UK. The new servers
are based on the SPARC (R) architecture and running the Solaris (TM) 10
operating system (OS) and are the fastest SPARC servers.
